Apparently the report yesterday that Ghostbusters on the Wii would allow you to use your DS as a simulated PKE meter was in error. Terminal Reality’s Mark Randel (who is kind of a strange authority on this game since Red Fly Studio is developing the Wii and DS games, but who no doubt knows more about it than us) told videogaming247 that no such feature was implemented. “It would have been really cool though.”
It has yet to be confirmed if either the Wiimote or DS will be able to interface with the Statue of Liberty. Hopefully some clever homebrewer/sorcerer/Scourge of Carpathia/Sorrow of Moldavia can come up with a slime that uses the Twilight Hack.

Who ever thought that painting the world in vibrant colors could be so much fun? That’s pretty much the principle in Capcom’s Okami for the Wii. Gamers in Europe who have been looking forward to the game’s launch should know that it has already been dated.
Capcom has announced that Okami for the Wii should be hitting retail stores by June 13 in Europe. Hopefully, this release will not have the “watermark problem” that was found in the box art of the U.S. version of the game.
That said, gamers in Europe don’t have to wait very long before they get their hands on Okami for the Wii. To help pass the time and see what the game has to offer, you might want to check out some screenshots of the game we posted some time ago.

Mario Kart Wii might be out already, but that doesn’t mean we’ve to cease celebrating it! This week, we’re giving away a copy of Mario Kart 64 (1000 points/$10) on the Virtual Console to one lucky reader, to superior enable you to compare and contract the past and present of the series. Or, you know, just to have fun. Whatever works for you.
So what do you’ve to do to win? First of all, you have to leave a comment (with a valid e-mail address) on this post suggesting one other Mario Kart title you’d like to see on the Virtual Console. Second, you must be a legal resident of the United States with an American Wii (sorry, Canadians, we’ve to leave you out of this one; blame the gifting system and not us!) and 18 years of age or older. You might enter once per day between now and Monday, May 5; the contest comes to a close that night at 11:59 PM Eastern time. Questions? Check out the official rules.

The Australian Office of Film and Literature Classification (OFLC) has rated the Sega Master System classic Alex Kidd in Miracle World for release on the Nintendo Wii Virtual Console service.
The game is a platformer with 16 levels which Alex Kidd has to traverse as he goes looking for his brother Egle who was captured by the evil Janken the Great.
Unlike conventional platformers which only rely on speed and

Back when it was Super Mario Galaxy sitting pretty atop The Legend of Zelda: Ocarina of Time as best-rated game ever on Gamerankings (SMG eventually dropped and let Ocarina have the throne back), we were fine with it. But, this, this, we cannot sit back and calmly take.
The game that everyone seems to be nutty about, Grand Theft Auto IV (or GTA IV, as most seem to be calling it), has now passed Ocarina and become the #1 rated game of all time on the site. While the game is very new (it came out yesterday), many reviews still need to come in, so we’re hoping that once they do, Ocarina will be back where it belongs. Until then, sharpen those pitchforks and light your torches, it’s time to become an unruly mob.

Indy developers finding themselves comfortable with the WiiWare doesn’t seem too farfetched, what with the Nintendo Wii’s broad target audience where even simple casual games can sell. The question here is this: How do devs price their downloadable offers?
Or at least, that’s what’s eating Nnooo (yes, that’s a company name) creative director Nic Watt behind the intriguing bubble shooter WiiWare title Pop. As of now he’s aiming for 500 to 800 Wii points, or a good U 5 to US 8 from your pockets.
While downloadable games from Xbox Live Arcade and PlayStation Network already have similar prices, Watt believes pricing of a WiiWare title for a new company is “really tough” when there are other games with different prices. “Disc-based games are somewhat easier as they all generally retail for about the same price, he added.

The subject of video game violence and the proper classification of such games has always been a rather hot topic in Europe. There’s even been contention which video game rating system would be ideal suited for the region.
It even came to the point that psychologist Dr. Tanya Byron released an extensive report regarding the current standards for rating violent video games. While groups such as the BBFC, ELSPA, ISFE, and Tiga all had positive remarks regarding the report, there were no solid conclusions which system would stand out as the basic standard for the industry to follow.
However, a current press release made by ELSPA gave evidence to the Department for Culture, Media, and Sports (DCMS) Choose Committee that the PEGI Age Ratings System should be adopted as the sole classification system for video games in Europe.
ELSPA Director General Paul Jackson was delighted to have the DCMS Choose Committee recognize PEGI’s efforts in providing an appropriate rating system for video games. He was also quoted having stated this:
[…] It is important that during this period of consultation post-Byron we work with everyone to ensure the revised ratings platform is robust and future proof. As games move increasingly on line, we call on all parties to embrace the PEGI Age Ratings system. As an instrument of the Video Recordings Act it would have teeth and deliver the right system to help the public make informed choices about the games they play.

Welcome to Nintendo Wii Fanboy’s Brawl Stage of the Week feature, in which we showcase some of our favorite Smash Bros. Brawl stages. We’ll have some themed weeks, some contest weeks, and some “whatever we damn well please” weeks to help you keep your Brawl experience fresh.
This week we’re featuring a completely original stage, made by SoshiKitai. Called “The Web,” Soshi considers this one his masterpiece — and we can see why. The picture doesn’t really translate how fun and crazy this stage actually is. In fact, “The Web” is so massive that not even the warp star trick can fully capture it. Luckily, you can experience it for yourself by downloading it here, but check on after the break for some more details on the stage and instructions on how to play it.

With some great PS2 games getting upgraded for the Wii (Resident Evil 4 and Okami), as well as some Dreamcast games getting another spin on the system (Home of the Dead 2 & 3 Return, Samba de Amigo), we were wondering if there were any games that you’d like to see get their own Wii edition? There’s a lot of games to select from out there, so you’ve to have at least one on your mind!
Is there a game that could benefit from the Wii treatment? Is it just something that would make good use of the Wii’s motion-based controls, or a game that could really use the new audience?

Last month, many of the readers here may recall Askot’s release of a Wii-compatible build for the FCE Ultra, originally meant for the GameCube. Good news aside, however, the emulator required the players to use the GC controller.
Not exactly a big problem, but some players probably would have opted for fully retro experience by using the Wiimote’s classic controller accessory. If you’re among these players, we’ve got a bit of good news.
Developer NullEX has recently released an unofficial build for the Wii’s FCE Ultra emulator which now carries full support for the console’s Wiimote. This build will support the Wiimote (held horizontally), the classic controller attachment, and the GameCube controller.
We do warn readers to be careful with this release:
