It’s the little things in life. Like the simple design that focuses on the color scheme of the SNES above, as well as simple no-bull design of the unit overall. What we’re not sure of is how using that d-pad is. This thing looks kind of thick, you know.
But, we have to say we dig the thing. We can see ourselves enjoying a game or two of some of our old favorites on this.

You can’t keep a good marsupial down. Crash Bandicoot is back in another adventure in Crash Bandicoot: Mind Over Mutant! Fresh after his adventure with the Titans, Crash must save his friends once again from the evil Neo Cortex.
This time around, the Doctor has a new weapon of evil in his hands. With it, he has taken control of the minds of both mutants and bandicoots. It’s so evil… it can even send text messages! (It’s a spoof of the iPhone in case you were wondering, folks.)
In Crash Bandicoot: Mind Over Mutant, you’ll also be able to play Coco, Crash’s sister, and you’ll have new abilities like digging, climbing, and a dodge-counter move. You’ll also be able to control your enemies as well as store your favorite monsters in your pocket. Yes, Crash is a Pokemon collector now.
The game will be released this October on the Nintendo Wii and DS, Xbox 360, PSP, and PS2. Check out the screenshots of Crash Bandicoot: Mind Over Mutant below:

Well, someone had to step in and tell Nintendo that they’re doing a good job with their online platform (even though, and let’s face reality here folks, they aren’t right now, but we’re hoping WiiWare can help change that). Majesco sees Nintendo as doing okay with the online content in titles such as Super Smash Bros. Brawl and Mario Kart Wii, but sees the system as able to do more elaborate and better things. Majesco is planning to make this leap into a bigger world with the release of Blast Works for the Wii.
So what is so envelope-pushing about Blast Works’s online functionality? Well, players will be able to create and trade content online. On top of that, players will also be able to head on over to a special website set up by Majesco, where they can browse other content made by users and, through the power of a mouse click, send that content to their own Wii. The best part? No Friend Codes necessary.
Majesco said that Nintendo has helped them make this leap into a world full of more rich and dynamic online content on a console that hasn’t had it yet and sees the future as very exciting regarding Wii and the online space. You can read all about how in the MTV Multiplayer interview here.

Well, it looks like Capcom isn’t the only one who’s been having trouble finding watermark-free art for their Okami Wii box cover. We’ve just received word that BradyGames’ recently published strategy guide for this new Wii title has experienced a similar mishap - an IGN watermark is clearly seen just below Amaterasu’s nose:

On Sierra Spring Break 08, developer Terminal Reality managed to show off what was great with its Infernal Engine and how it brought the popular proton-blasting heroes to new life in Ghostbusters: The Videogame. But most importantly, it was mentioned that the original cast of the previous Ghostbusters movies lent a helping hand to also revitalize the story and plot.
“[Dan Aykroyd and Harold Ramis] co-wrote the script for the videogame. They introduced a lot of stuff that we didn t think of,” stated Terminal Reality president Mark Randel. He added that Ramis (Egon, Ghostbusters) added a heroine to the game, and introduced that virtual lady as a love interest for Peter Venkman (you know, the womanizing parapsychologist played by Bill Murray).
Aykroyd (Ray, Ghostbusters), who will start recording his voice for the game this week, also listed all the equipment that the Ghostbusters use and put that into the mythos of the game.
In continuance to being faithful to the franchise, Terminal Reality will be including Stay Puf’t, the popular Ghostbuster mascot, in the game, and will even be using the original theme by Ray Parker Jr. for the soundtrack - completely un-remixed.

When we heard about the original Bionic Commando coming to Xbox Live and PSN, we couldn’t help but hope that an announcement for the game on the VC would be soon to follow. Fast forward to four months later, and Capcom’s Ben Judd recently said in an interview with IGN that putting the NES version on the VC “couldn’t happen.”
According to Christian Svensson, the Senior Director of Strategic Planning & Research for Capcom, this isn’t the company’s fault. Rather, Nintendo is the one to blame, as Capcom would like nothing more than to have the game on the Virtual Console.
We’ve already done our own speculating as to why this game would be roadblocked by Nintendo, but to hear it confirmed is rather heartbreaking.

Now might be the right time to construct a bigger, stronger mantelpiece in the Miyamoto household, because Nintendo hero Shigeru Miyamoto has just won another damn award. This one comes courtesy of Japanese gaming bible Famitsu, which recently held its own awards ceremony in recognition of its 1,000th issue.
As Miyamoto picked up 2007’s MVP gong and subsequently burst into tears on stage, it seems fitting that two of his most ubiquitous Wii creations also did rather well, with Wii Sports (not a pack-in game in Japan, remember) bagging the Ideal Hit award, and Wii Fit grabbing a trophy of its own for innovation. So congrats, Shiggy — even if you don’t return our daily letters asking to meet up IRL for a chat, some chamomile tea, and a round of Wii Sports tennis (he’d be really good), we still love ya!

The latest in the Nintendo Wii homebrew scene brings us a classic Windows’ port to the white hot console. Homebrew developer mangaman3000 has released Minesweeper, a direct clone of the original playable with a GameCube controller.
As of now, mangaman3000’s Minesweeper doesn’t support the Wii Remote. Scores don’t get recorded as of this release, but updates are expected to follow. Installation is basically the same as most Wii homebrew, so be sure you know how to work the Zelda Chainloader.
For now, here are controls you need to know:
- Main menu controls
- UP/DOWN = change selection
- RIGHT/LEFT = change mines/size
- Z = speed up selection (only for mines/size)
- In-game controls
- B = Toggle flag,question mark & square
- LEFT/RIGHT/UP/DOWN = change selection
