If you think ten bucks can only go as far as downloading tiny games on the web, think again. Ideal Buy lives up to its name by holding a major markdown sale of over 50 titles for the Xbox 360, PS3, Wii, DS, and even the PS2, putting games at a must-get price of only US 9.99 - or so rumors say.
All the games you’ll find below will be on sale this coming April 26th, if the info is legit. When you walk into a Best Buy outlet, look for the Ideal Purchase sticker.
It’s final - nearly a month after Eidos Interactive shareholders approved the Square Enix takeover, court has finally approved the publisher’s acquisition, making Lara Croft and Tomb Raider part of the Square Enix family, even though it doesn’t appear that Eidos’ operations will be affected too much by the new arrangement.
The take-over formally takes effect tomorrow, April 22nd, and Eidos shares will be de-listed from the London Stock Exchange by 8AM London Time on the 23rd. The US 117 million take-over gives the Tokyo-based Square Enix a stronghold in Western shores.
With Eidos under Square Enix, it’d be interesting how the latter would be using its new resources to their advantage. Focus naturally will turn to games, and how Lara Croft will fit in next to her new Japanese mates.

There’s still no word of a North American release for Monster Hunter 3 but considering Capcom’s current push to promote the series outside Japan, we may yet see a stateside release for this game. It’s currently scheduled for a Summer 2009 release in Japan.
Nintendo’s really trying to get some motion going for Wii MotionPlus. Electronic Arts has now formally announced that they’re pushing through with the collaboration, bundling two of their upcoming titles with the new motion-sensing controller. Soon, you could be playing Tiger WoodsPGA Tour 10 and Grand Slam Tennis with the latest in Ninty’s motion-sensing technology.
This exclusive and limited-time offer is exciting news for sports fans who want to enhance their Wii experience for a great value with the new Wii MotionPlus right at launch with both Tiger Woods PGA Tour 10 and EA Sports Grand Slam Tennis, said EA Sports president Peter Moore, adding that the new accessory will help them deliver the authentic sports experience to their titles.
Five more titles are expected to come with Wii MotionPlus, although EA Sports has yet to make the confirmation as to which ones these will be. As it is, the Wii versions of Tiger Woods PGA Tour 10 and Grand Slam Tennis will be bundled with the accessory when it ships to Europe this summer, while North America will only get the Tiger Woods bundle at launch. Bundle pricing is at GB 49.99 (about US 73).
No more rumors. No more should-have-been slide presentations. Lego Rock Band is now confirmed for the PS3, Xbox 360, Nintendo Wii, and DS. Here’s a screenshot:
Traveller’s Tales, Harmonix, MTV Games, and Warner Bros. are all together on this gig to bring two successful franchises into one game. They’ve even already revealed a partial track list:
Blur - Song 2
Carl Dougles - Kung Fu Fighting
Europe - The Final Countdown
Good Charlotte - Boys and Girls
Pink - So What
As you might think, it won’t be just a Lego-fied Rock Band (a Rock Band with Lego avatars). Though no specific details were given, the press release mentioned that they’re going to bring in the “build-and-play” element of the Lego games into Rock Band, meaning, you get to customize your band - plus roadies, entourage, crew, etc. Equally, the Lego humor and playfulness will also be retained.
All instrument controllers in previous Rock Band games will be compatible here, as would that of Guitar Hero’s controllers. The release is currently scheduled for this year’s holidays.
Sir Paul McCartney, one fourth of the legendary band The Beatles put on quite a show last weekend at the recent Coachella Music and Arts Festival. And lookie here, as an added bonus, he even played a clip of the upcoming The Beatles: Rock Band (PS3, Xbox 360, Wii).
According to the Beatle’s official website: [It] was a night of firsts and was the unexpected, unannounced world premiere of the images from the coming Beatle Rock Band game which played on vast screens throughout ‘Got To Get You Into My Life”.
The video’s a bit shaky, but it’s pretty obvious that Harmonix really pared down the cartoonish image of the game characters, and rightly so too, given that it features one of the most beloved icons in the history of pop culture.
We can’t wait to see for an actual gameplay video from Harmonix, and we’re crossing our fingers it’ll be very, very soon.
In the meantime, check out the Coachella video here:
